Windows 10 Bug
« on: September 17, 2015, 03:30:39 AM »
To see if it is Windows 10 or not, if you don't have Windows 10 you can try it yourself. Look in my profile for a list of my attachments, choose a Template, download it and see if you can convert the template yourself.

Crash seems to happen without altering the file you mentioned. It might be coming from Windows not the Editor per se. (I tried to alter the Compatibility settings for the Editor but the crashes still happened.)
I uploaded an image of the dialog screen that appears when the program crashes.

To repeat myself in this thread.

I downloaded your DKK template.

I added the latest databases and ran into trouble
because the editor does not expect an old design with
new databases.  I fudged the editor to tolerate this
situation.

But, we cannot expect this to work well in general.

If you want to convert your old 0.914 design,
it needs to have all the original *.dat files in the
data folder.  They will be automatically converted
to the latest level.

Where can I find the *.dat files for your DKK design?

If I am not mistaken, Paul, these databases are the default.914 databases.

OK.

Then I'll rephrase my question:

Where do I get the default 0.914 databases?

All-in-all, it is somewhat painful having to put together
the pieces of someone's design in order to debug it.

Manikus and I have reached an understanding of what
a debug submission looks like.  It contains a complete
data folder to which I add a pre-arranged resources folder.
That has worked very well for many years now.

You should stop working on this until either he or I provide you with the needed files. I have all of his GoldBox conversions on my home computer. I hope that I have not converted them all to 1+ format. If I have, I will email the files to Ishad. This obviously won't fix the bugs, but it will give him updated versions of all of his files.

The Templates used most of the files of the existing v0.9## Editors. Templates never had any databases of their own, they were essentially just collections of maps.
Databases, Sourceforge, maybe other sites too, will have the entire v0.914 install. Some Templates will only work on v0.93## Editors.

If this is a problem with all pre-v1.0 designs we will need a definite solution.
If it is only a problem with mine, I can do it myself.

The .914 databases are avilable on SourceForge as part of the .914 install package. But, Paul does need to go looking for them - we should include them in any germaine issue we are asking him to look at. And I have no problem with doing that for someone if they ask. :)

I found my copy of the DQK template. I opened it up in UAForever .914 and looked it over to remind myself what was going  on. I then made a copy of the folder and put the files in the correct subfolders for the 1+version of DC. I then opened it in the editor (2.17) and clicked "OK" numerous times until DC converted it to the current format. I looked several of the levels over and they appeared exactly as in UAForever .914 editor. There was no crash or errors. This was done on a Windows 8.1 machine.

For a description of what files whould go where for 1+ DC:

Edited to add:
Paul, I completely forgot to check when I converted the old version of this design, but is the AI_Script.BLK file being added?

Below I've attached the DQK .dat files.
