I voted for:

Badger because badger badger badger badger badger. Also because of Gamma World.

Camel - An anthropomorphic camel would be interesting.

Moose, because of The Chocolate Moose.

Marten, as a tribute to Dinonykos.

Mole, because I'd like to see some Mole People.

Other: An anthopomorphic sloth.

Correction: Seems like I voted for gorilla instead of mole, but I like gorillas as well. Especially when they're equipped with banana missiles.

Figure my "other" as one of the following:

Coyote
Puma
Duck
Lizard
Dingo
Goose
Snake
Cricket
Owl
or Penguin.

Rhino - because every party needs a tank

Lynx - cat people are a classic

Monkey - noone can resist the temptation of a monkey companion

Shrew - because it looks funny

Porcupine - because it looks funny AND would probably be quite effective in combat, I imagine - plus, my avatar already resembles one.  ;)

Other: Sloth - this may look like I'm just mimicking Ben J but I've actually thought about sloths as an anthropomorphic fantasy race for UA before and tried converting sloth photographs to small pics, because ... well, because they look so weird and alien, and because I somehow feel close to their way of life.   :D

I picked "Cat" because I believe all of the following are "Cats":
Cheetah, Leopard, Lion, Lynx, and Tiger

"Rabbit" because of Bugs, Roger, and the Hoops of Gamma World

Then I went with the traditional Lycanthropes:
Bat, Bear, Rat, and Wolf

I would have liked to vote for "Walrus" but it wasn't an option... no pinnipeds
"Into the Drachensgrab Mountains!"

I assume, beasts means generally mammals, right, and you don't want extinct species?

My selection:
  • Bat (you could incorporate the supersonic hearing somehow)
  • Elephant (as long as it does not result in something like "Benjamin the Elephant")
  • Giraffe
  • Marten (Ben J, I appretiate your tribute! :) Martens in a wider sense would also be nice, anything like Wolverines, Badgers, Otters, Skunks.)
  • Porcupine

I missed anteaters, armadillos and such (sloths, yes!), and my sixth vote would, of course, be for
  • giant kangaroos. :)

I thought about adding in some "New World" critters, but I was trying to keep it sort of "Old World"-centric.  Had I also added New World, there would be Raccoons, Coyotes, Jaguars, Bison, Armadillos, Cougars and, of course, Sloths.

It would be hard to stat a Cat with such diversity... : )

While I would prefer kangaroos, sloths are also fine.
The mixture is probably the key... e.g., if there are jaguar-people, leopard-people would probably not be a great addition (also depending on the background story, of course...)

Concerning New and Old World: Alternatively, you could make your decision taxonomy-based, instead of geography-based. (I am not firm with the D&D worlds, though...)

If a hack were created for some sort of "Cat Earth" where all the PC races were feline, anthropomorphic house cats could be halfling-size, with the races working up in height to 6-foot-plus Bengals.  (Imagine what items might be found in the stores of a Cat Earth town...)
