Challenge of the Grey Company
« on: August 31, 2010, 03:08:06 PM »
I started playing this, but then I went on vacation and took a longer break.

Now I'm trying to resume playing, but I don't quite remember what to do. My notes say that I have to find someone named "Carnaldave" in the woods, but they don't say why (another good reason why it's important to keep detailed notes while playing).

Help me out: I'm already in the (huge) woods, accompanied by a dwarf called Dwyvyrn. Why am I searching for the oddly-named Carnaldave, and where do need to go? The dwarves in the Guid Hall remained silent on the matter.

Hmm, I guess no one remembers the specifics of this game anymore...  :-\

Looks like I have to roam around the forest some more until I'm back on track. I want to avoid looking into the editor.

Kudos to hans for his C&C reeference.  ::)

It's been a long time, but I think that Carnaldave is/was the leader of the Grey Company, a NWN Guild whose members are/were Elves. I recall wandering the Neverwinter Wood, searching every nook and cranny of the forest until I stumbled on the Grey Company's hideout therein.

So, just keep searching... as long as you're in the Woods, you're on the right track. Don't ask why you need to find Carnaldave, just accept that finding him will move the plot forward.

Thanks, I'll keep searching, then.   :)

The woods are huge!

The game itself doesn't have any hacks, nor too many new pictures, but the text and dialogue are very well written, imho.

Can anybody tell me where the Summer Palace of Queen Amlaruil is?

I have the mission to go there, but the Elves did not have the gratitude to remind me where it is.

Never mind, I found it - it was hidden in plain sight.

You are persistent. I, for one, enjoy a mod where I can explore freely, though it can be frustrating at times.

I enjoy free exploration, too, but you have to give the player at least some directions or hints where certain places can be found.
That's what I did in "The Sect", plus there was the "Map Room" and a world atlas in the library.
