Are there more fonts available for FRUA than are listed here? If you have other cool fonts, please post them in this thread.

Hmmm.... or maybe someone knows a game with an interesting font that's not in the image gallery?

I created the font for Mars.
I forget if I did a new one for Superdead or just retooled someone else's...

I used the Font Editor that came with UAShell. I don't know if it still comes included, or even if it still works with today's faster computers...
I heard there's another font editor out there, too, but I've almost completely forgotten about it...

For me, Feditor is the easiest to use.

Thanks! I'll try these editors. Let's see if I can make my own font for my next game.

"feditor" didn't install at all. "feditor2" was succesfully installed, but now the program says is needs a file called VB40032.DLL, which is not included in the zip file.

Yep. It's a Visual Basic runtime dll which may or may not be installed on any given computer. You can get it many places on the web. Here, for example.

Thanks very much. It works now! I found an interesting site while searching for a suitable 8x8 font to copy for my game: A generator for old arcade game fonts

SHUA uses a font not found in that list.

My experience with the Font Editor so far:
Making an 8x8 font is easy. Making an easily readable yet nice-looking 8x8 font for FRUA is rather difficult.

You want an unreadable font, use the Horror one I made over a decade ago. It really doesn't look too bad until you make it red and use it in game. heh

If there was one more row of pixels dividing each line of text in FRUA, a designer could do a lot more with the fonts. But at 8x8, you always need 1-2 empty rows of pixels as part of each character to really make a font readable.
I have made a FRUA conversion of the classic "Ghosts 'n Goblins" arcade game font. It looks good, but in the game it becomes distracting as soon as there's more than one line of text in a text box.
When I'm done with the punctuation marks, I'm going to post the font here. Maybe someone else has use for it.
