Wow, thats some nice doors! You are going to do 1024 versions as well, right?

Nope.
Damn, I knew you'd say that. :)

For graphics of this size and complexity, there is not a lot of difference in file size between 8-bit and 24-bit. Oddly enough, some extra work for the programmers is needed for 8-bit art, especially in the world of 3D games...fortunately, DC already had that taken care of by the CDX folks. :D

If you want the same doors larger, you'll need to petition Steve. They were his textures. I know that he doesn't have much interest in 1024x768 for his own use, so I have no idea if he has larger versions of the textures that someone could work with.

OK, when the time comes, I will ask him.

Someone recently asked about an import of a FRUA mod that I did, so I opened it up to take a look at it, and decided that what it really needed was some new art - it uses the FRUA art converted to DC. Nothing wrong with FRUA art for an 88x88 viewport, but for 176x211 it doesn't look so nice - all pixely and stretched.

The design uses the Rock A, Rock B and Webs walls. So I started off with a new Webs type wall, and then did a red version. Now for those of you worrying that making a couple of walls is taking away from important DC stuff, have no fear, it only took about 10 minutes total for the two walls and that incoludes doing a fair bit more by hand than I normally do. :D

I have no idea when I'll do more, I guess it partly depends on if anyone is even interested in this kind of thing, partly on free time.

Would it be okay to use any of these walls in the program I'm working on?  Obviously, I can't use any that come from copyrighted material, but if any of these are actually creations of artists on this board, I figured it couldn't hurt to ask.

I hope it would be ok :) though it is not mine to say. Anyway I am glad to hear You are continuing You work as I was thinking that You might be recruited by some big company to work for :D as Your game was really interesting.

I hope I will be able to learn to make games like those with help of people here :) and mabe make something like that too. I also think I should be starting to get more serious about that work and I wish I know how I could somehow transfer money or get a credit card. I hope I will be able to do that sometime soon, but in my country it is still a very rare thing and mostly done by someone that is working outside :(  Anyway after summer I will try learning programming that will be useful for DC, till then I am making games and sorting those already made :) 220 more to go I feel end is near  :icon_compress:

Their usage policy is great. A lot of professional 3D artists use textures from them. :)

Are you allowed to use their textures in the pursuit of freeware and commercial development?  Do you know offhand?

Yes, you may. If you follow their guidelines, you can use them for software that is not free. A lot of Poser/DAZ Studio people use these textures. As long as they are under a certain resolution, there is no exchange of money involved.

Freeware is definitely okay, though.

Totally bumping this thread in case anyone wants to add any additional walls.  This is a great resource that should probably be a Sticky.

I forgot how many walls I had posted. :)

I was actually looking for that stagmite overlay a couple of days ago (because of Dinonykos new cave wall). :)
