Thanks, FBN!

I don't recall Merric being involved in a sequel.  He did make a Realm-compatible game, though: THE HIDDEN TOWER.

I'm not sure I'm remembering accurately, but I think Catacombs of the Old One had some hidden places to rest behind secret doors.  I know that was the case with Mad Hierophant.  It's definitely not easy to rest, though...I'm glad the difficulty didn't ruin it for you!   ;)

I've played it before. There were plans to make a NES or SNES version of CoTAB but that didn't happen. But if you want, (not to spoil it) at the end of the PoR NES you can get character sheet codes that would have allowed you to transfer your character to the CoTAB nintendo version.

I like the fact there was no encumbrance restrictions in the NES version however you can only have a 5 member party. plus you were limited to what races/classes the selection screen gave you.

Some of the spells were renamed like bless and prayer.  Plus no gambling allowed in the taverns.

the music is annoying but you can turn it off. but the green brown blue colours are a bit well blah.. :P. and being 8bit the graphics are not at all like the ones in the other versions of PoR

Plus the resting aspect took tooooo long to heal your characters. seemed like forever from what I remember when I played it.

But I think if you can find the NES cart (box instructions etc)  it would be a great addition for the D&D collector. I'm also guessing you would have to replace the coin battery in the game cart by now (being over 20 years old).

Ah, yes, I was talking about FRUA, too, but of course there's no reason why it shouldn't work in DC.

I think hans probably had in mind a FRUA modules rather than a DC module...

So, the good news is there is no reason not to start on it right away.  :)

Episode 6 of the realm series - a series of original UA adventures by Ray - French Vanilla.  You are transported by a wizard to another dimension to face an enemy you did not even know about and immediately must do battle with servants of the old one.  This one takes up where the last one left off as is with all the designs in this series.  After that first battle you must try and find a why back to your own home and in doing so you must explore beneath the ruined castle.  There are really no random encounters, but the encounters are deadly.  There are also few places to rest and there places you will take damage (my bane).  There are no spelling, grammer or other errors or bugs I could see.  You just need to watch out because if you make the wrong decision you will end up in this world for good.

Story/Plot:  7
Bug-free:   10

Combat:      8
Playability: 8
Overall:     7

Say Ray - did Merrick actually make a sequel to this mod or a compatible mod at least?

Thanks,

FBN66 - Jeff
