Destination Level
« on: August 16, 2016, 12:25:59 PM »
In Dungeon Craft, when you are selecting the Destination Level for a Transfer Module Event, you are given two arrows which allow you to move forward and backward through the Level List. I strongly recommend that this be changed to a Drop-Down menu. As you can see in the screenshot, there is already a Drop-Down menu which allows you to select the party's facing: North, South, East, West, or Unchanged.

When I want to transfer the party to Dungeon Level 29, I have to click the forward arrow 28 times. Consider that some levels have 5 or more stairways that connect one level to the next (or even within a single level, since DC has no separate Stairs Event). This means that I have to click the forward arrow 28 times to select the destination level 5 times for the stairs leading up, and then I have to click the forward arrow another 28 times for each of the 5 stairs leading back down.

Click, Scroll, Click.

versus

Click, Click, Click, Click, Click, Click, Click, Click, Click, Click, Click, Click, Click, Click, Click, Click, Click, Click, Click, Click, Click, Click, Click, Click, Click, Click, Click, Click.

It makes me happy to see that someone is
actually using the editor to do something
other than produce mini-mods.

What you are asking for is a bit tedious to
implement but it certainly will be done.  Soon.

I have had this thought myself, as I have several designs with around a hundred levels (I know that sounds crazy, but they're conditional, like if a particular quest is going on, go to 5, if a different quest, go to 6, if no quest go to 7, etc)

Paul posted before I did, so I changed this paragraph to this. ;)

I agree that this would be a great improvement (the drop-down menu).

Paul has a bug right now and he knows about this, so I will consider this to be next after the bug and wait to send another bug until after it is done. :)

Good call, Nol.

Clicking the forward arrow 100 times gets tiresome quickly. Thanks for moving this to near the front of the queue.

Paul, do you need anything from me on this? Other than testing, etc.

Version 2.51 is a big improvement. Thanks!

Of course, as a client, I can never be satisfied.

I would prefer if the levels were listed in numerical order: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, etc.

Currently, they are listed in alphabetical order: 1, 10, 11, 12, ..., 18, 19, 2, 20, 21, ... 29, 3, 30, 31, etc

We could use leading zeroes. I assume it would be easier to tell the code to do that than to change the sort method. But what do I know?

I also would prefer numerical order over alphabetical order.

I feed it the data in numeric order.  So it is a simple
matter of telling Micro$oft to "Leave it as is.  I know
what I am doing."

Not counting explitives, most of what I say to Micro$oft is that I do actually know how to use a computer. ;)

Thanks, Paul.
