I personally would like this (removing the "else"), but I am generally not that much into AD&D. I could imagine that those of us who want DC to stick to the AD&D rules might want to have the "else" in there.

Removing the "else" would not effect the default DC in any way that I can see, and it would add more options.

The 'else' has been removed from both the
THAC0 and AC calculations.
