I am going to say monk, but how would you go about changing the unarmed damage?  And the monk has a ton of special abilities to script too...

Changing the damage will be relatively easy - we already have scripts that change damage for monsters. And speaking of monsters, we have monsters already in the database that have more Special Abilities than monks do. :) It is mostly just going to take someone willing to spend the time to write the scripts and test them thoroughly, probably a couple of people (one to write, one to test, etc.)

Illusionists for sure!  :D  Then players will finally have a reason to play gnome characters...  ;)

After illusionists, I would go for bards, monks, and assassins.  (Never really liked the barbarian or cavalier classes - rather unbalanced, I think.  (As if all barbarians were as buff as Conan was...))

As I was writing up the poll, I thought to myself, "well, bard, assassin, monk on the list for sure, illusionist for Uatu, oh heck, I should list them all." ;)

The hard part about the illusionist is the spells, I think. Not only do we need to figure out how to do a whole bunch of new spells, but we need to figure out how to give high level illusionists magic user spells (actually this might not be too hard the way things are going with fixing spell acquisition right now). :D

There was no option for "All of the Above."  That's what I would have selected.

Would it help if I told you I was viewing this poll as a way to determine, "which one first"? ;)

No worries, I voted for one before I even posted that.  I'm just saying...  ;D

Uatu and I have been talking about illusionists for a long time, so I have a fairly good idea of what to do. Somewhere along the line, he and I started talking about the other classes, and eventually began posting our back and forth here.

Here's what I think we can (and by we, I mean me - there are others that are more adept, like Tom, so perhaps more is possible).

Illusionist
Monk
Thief-Acrobat

Likely, but not thought on as hard~
Barbarian
Cavalier
Assassin

I have no idea about (which is not the same as saying I don't think they can be done)~
Bard

Voted for barbarian, human illusionist was my first character ever but I would probably give a second and third place to bard and assassin, 4th Illusionist (and all other specialist wizards hopefully), 5th monk, 6th cavalier and 7th thief acrobat. But I wish to see all those in some 1e style mod hack + oriental classes :) + 2e extra classes like chronomancer, sage, psion, crusader, shaman ect :) + specialized wizards + maybe those kits character modifications :) then things would be very cool  ;D and also those special races like alaghi and saurial ect ;)

It is true that hand-to-hand monks do not really fit in a medieval European world (fantasy or not)...

Actually, even in the Far East, monks/ascetics in actuality were normally armed as follows:

Shaolin: long staves, sickle-spades, three-section staves, etc.
Wudang: swords, horse whisk, etc.
Japan: spears, shakujo (kind of a long staff with metal rings on the end), etc.

...because even if you are a monster at fighting bare-handed, adding a weapon usually makes you stronger...
