Modrons
« on: June 09, 2011, 12:35:12 AM »
I'll post these pictures here in a new thread, as the Pic of the Day thread has gotten off-topic.

Unlike the Modrons in that other thread, these images are PCX files which have been sent through UA256 to be cropped and have their palettes optimized for importing directly into FRUA.

First of all, 2 images of Mechanus, the Clockwork Nirvana:

We should collect all the Modrons in a Modron pic-pack.

Not sure if we were off topic. They were pictures, after all. The modrons and larva are the only ones I don't have anything similar to replace them with. Don't have The Great Modron March. And my artistry is bad. Best I can do for Octon is below from two attempts:

Also two WOTC animated modrons. Other than multiple screen captures, any easier way to convert them to FRUA?

EDIT: BTW, Thanks for converting the pictures. I'll search the internet and see if anything else comes up.

I think that same animated modron is already on Nol Drek's site (in FRUA format).

Edited to add: The file hoster is gone. Do you still have that pic elsewhere, Nol?

Even more edits: I found it on corhub. http://frua.corhub.com/mon_mp06.htm#Modron

I didn't notice because it is in a TLB file. My scanner software can't read TLBs and I tend not to go through the whole DOSBox thing for them. I see I also missed some of the other uncolored modrons. Have found a bunch of modron fan art online. And about 4 from WOTC including a April Fool's Dragon cover and a 4th edition column on what happened to them. (Primus killed and kicked off their plane.) I'll probably put it all together in one big Modron art pack like I did with Yugoloths.

A lot depends upon your definition of easy.

The first step is breaking it down to (16) single pictures with an animated gif editor.

The second step is to resize each picture to the desired size and convert it to PCX format. (Make sure each picture uses the same palette.)

The final step is to use Itamar Havivi's TLB Utilities program to convert the pictures to TLB format and build them into an animation.

If the animation runs too slowly in FRUA, reduce the number of frames.
Some days it just doesn't pay to gnaw through the straps.
