Visual Studio
« on: August 27, 2017, 02:44:16 AM »
Not this time :) but I will try to get them, Thank You. Right now I am investing into DS content about 200$ for my DC mod :) but was thinking that next Year I should get Visual Studio and try to learn it in order to try working with DC. Will have to see about details but I really wish I could make it :) trouble is I probably will try to study management from this year and will not have that much free time but will keep on working here. I really wish I could make something good with DS and DC too :D

On the good side I still have Fallout and Neverwinter Nights to play with if needed :)

Yes but in order to work with DC I will need Pro version to be able to work with databases... at least that is what Mankius said. Paul wanted to send me older version and I actualy am still thinking about it and will probably try to do it or best I can get to work with and well I will just need to learn to use it with DC. But my wish is to be able to help and do things on my own too. I wish I could know things like You btw, and that is my goal to learn and make my own mods and version of DC if possible and well just help with programming and graphics. I mean to be developer lol. I really wish it, like Manikus and Paul :) was watching this lately and was thinking to get this on 85% discount (12$) because of Spartan and Barbarian king outfit https://www.daz3d.com/the-freak-4-pro-bundle ...but have 40$ left and I am after this for some time https://www.daz3d.com/genesis-michael-victoria-combo-bundle and was looking at this yesterday too :) https://www.daz3d.com/mec4d-the-spartan-for-genesis-2-male-s ...but for now I am still mostly using G4 figures (I am only missing elite and muscle morphs for V4 which is not that much) and G5 (Genesis) and G6, but those G7 and G8 look much better and could get G8 but decided to stay with G5 for now, was thinking to ask Manikus for advice but nm I just think I should use up to G6 figures until I get better computer :). Sorry for longer post but I really started to think about making 3d art for my mod :)) and got some tutorials too for making building in Hexagon...

I am using the FREE version of Visual Studio 2015.
It is still available from Micro$oft, I believe.

Ok Paul, how does this work? I looked at the free version of visual studio before and as far as I could tell it did not have MFC support (and the paid version does). If I am wrong please correct me. I do want to get into the code, and that assumption (that I needed the paid version of visual studio) was the primary reason that I did not.

how does this work

I don't know.  But I downloaded the following, installed it,
and it all works.  The "Help/About" says:
Microsoft Visual Studio Community 2015.
It does not say anything about 'professional'.

That was several years ago but I don't recall having
to do anything special to get MFC to work.  I think I did
have to give them my email address and such.  I remember
being surprised that Mr. Gates was giving something away.

Here is an executable that I found in my downloads folder.
When I run it, it says things about "Setup" and
"Visual Studio 2015 Community".  I did not run it
far enough to see what it might do.  I was afraid it might
un-do things I had done years ago.

I downloaded Visual Studio Community 2017 from this site:
https://www.visualstudio.com/downloads/

I ran the setup program and chose Desktop Development with C++ to create a console app.

I followed this tutorial:

Great, well I am almost ready to continue to work on my mod, just few files to install for DS and here You can see what I have got. That is new dragon and some orcs that will look really cool. I could get Carrara 8.5 but I was not sure how useful it is, Manikus maybe knows better, but I guess that I will get it.

I think I should start to watch and try those lessions, and I will follow Paul's lead for now, just need to focus and learn :). I mean I need to be really on it and well just to keep doing it like training and preparing for real work with it :).

Here are pics... Sorry if they are a bit big and well not posed that good it was just a quick test :) (and silver dragon can be zoomed in full size for best view :) )
