What formats do you own your copy of UA?  You can pick up to 3.

I had to change my vote; because, I just remembered I have UA on a DVD+R, where I backed up *all* of my DOS games for use in DOSBox.

Was there ever an official DVD release, part of some collection perhaps?  I remember the CD release that came out as part of a collection of fantasy games.  I think Stronghold and Dungeon Hack were part of that collection.

I don't believe it's ever been released on DVD, but I included it because, if you're like me, you might have backed it up to a DVD.  As I said, I have a huge collection of DOS games backed up in that format, including UA.

I guess DVD was a bit before UA's time. :)  But it's a good point about backups... that's something I need to make sure I do, with all the horror stories of people losing their nearly completed designs.

I don't see the option for 5-1/4" floppy disks, so I had to choose "Other".  I backed up my original 5-1/4" floppies to 3-1/2" floppy disks years ago, but now one of the 3-1/2" floppy disks is corrupted and I don't currently have a working 5-1/4" floppy disk drive connected to any of my computers.  I thought about making new back-up 3-1/2" floppy disks, but then thought, why bother.  I have enough back-ups on different hard drives scattered all over from my many attempts to install and get UAShell running correctly.

Now that I have finally got a working install of UAShell with UA, I should burn it to a couple of CD's for safe keeping.

Didn't anyone else get their UA on 5-1/4" floppy disks?  I guess my box must be one of the old first release versions when 5-1/4" floppy disks were still in use.

I don't recall whether my original purchase of UA was on 3.5's or a CD. I'm thinking 3.5's. Though I have it on two separate CD's now, from various collections.

Wow, I didn't even know it was released on 5-1/4" floppy disks!  That's why I didn't include it as an option.

I'll add it as an option, though...so feel free to remove your votes and vote again.

I feel special now!

This is the first forum I have seen with the "remove vote" option so members can change their votes when the options change, very cool.  So I changed my vote to reflect what I have.  I am surprised that more people don't have the 5-1/4" floppy version, considering the age of FRUA.  I wonder how long the time period was from first release to last release of FRUA and just how many different publications of it there were?

I must repeat myself, Ben, this is a great forum and I love the features you have included within it. You have created a wonderful asset to this tiny community of FRUA fans.

I know it was originally released in March 1993.  I bought it the week it came out (I had been waiting for its release after reading about it in one of the SSI catalogs).

When I bought it, 3 1/4" disks were the only option I found.

I believe it had a very short shelf-life, since it wasn't a very big seller.

It was later released in some SSI compilation packs on CD (I have a CD version too).  Those versions didn't come with the original documentation or box, though (these days, I keep my CD version in the box with the documentation.  The disk versions are stored somewhere else).

Let me know if anyone manages to find it in USB form.   ;D

I guess that qualifies as "other."

Eventually, I'll have it stored in a cybernetic implant in my head and will be able to complete designs by just thinking about them, which will finally lead to something interesting I can do at work.  At least until Service Pack 2 for Windows CIE comes out and eliminates the option to run any DOS programs.  (Windows CIE will be the "Cybernetic Implant Edition," and will be notorious for blue screens of death that lead to actual deaths, serious security breaches that allow people to remotely access your thoughts, and a theme similar to Vista's "Aero" that will make your brain overheat and run slow every Thursday).
