Title: Bards in Dungeon Craft take 2
Post by: manikus on September 07, 2017, 04:34:32 PM
Round two of the bard polling - top answers/suggestions from last poll. :)
If you choose $4 "Just bard..", please tell me how you think HP, THAC0 and Thief Skills should be handled.

I will go with the group on adding the class, but if you want one of the other suggestions, I can do a special one for you (only the baseclass database will be different and easy for me to do up one for someone who wants something specific).

I voted for Nol's suggestion, not surprisingly.

Your suggestion has 100% of the votes at this moment. ;)

I will definitely make sure your suggestion is made available.

Voted for the first one, but to clarify, if the bard fits the 1E rules, then its good imo.  That is, fighter (5-7) to thief (5-9) to bard, if I remember right.  Nol's suggestion would fit that too.

Nol's suggestion is, I think, the minimum requirements for the 1e bard, right?  That sounds like the best idea to me, too - bard capabilities as early as possible (especially since we don't have level 100-type mods yet).

Here was my reasoning for my suggestion during the first go-round:

Quote
Fighter Level 7: because Bards always attack as the highest level Fighter they attained and the attack matrix is the same for Fighter 7 as it is for Fighter 8.
Thief Level 5: because I want characters to get into being a bard as early as possible, and the advantages of having 4 extra levels of Thief are not as great as the advantages of having 4 extra levels of Bard.

F7/T5/B5 is better at Level 17, in my opinion, than any of the other options at Level 17.

Some of the above options that we can vote for look funny, because this forum writes "8 close parenthesis" as 8)

I'd hate for the best option to lose just because it looks like a cool dude.

Even though it's not my poll, I fixed the numbers by turning them into "(8th)" instead.  But, I did notice that one of the options was "(0)" and I'm not sure if that's accurate, so someone else will have to address that.

That option should be max thief (9).

Thanks for the fix, ProphetSword.

I changed my vote to Nol's suggestion.  Probably best to get to bard faster.  A lot of XPs needed to go from 7th fighter to 8th fighter.  Only benefit is the d10 for HPs.
