This may be a really dumb question, but how do you take a screenshot when you're running UA?

I know how to take a screenshot in xp (Ctrl+PrtSc) but it doesn't work with UA. I searched the manual for screenshots but they aren't mentioned.

If you are running FRUA through DOSBox, use CTRL-F5 to make a screenshot, and ALT-CTRL-F5 to make a movie.

Er... might be an even dumber question, but why CTRL + PrtSc? If you just press PrtSc, should that not result in saving the complete screen into the clipboard? I read that by pressing the CTRL + PrtSc, you just activate the "printer echo" function.

Oh okay, not really sure. It's been ages since I took screenshots and I can't remember but I've tried PrtSc, Ctrl + PrtSc, Alt + PrtSc and Ctrl + Alt + PrtSc anyway and none of them work.

And after pressing PrtSc, you tried to past the clipboard into a software like MS Paint and it did not work? (Sorry, just want to make sure...)

One last idea I have: Maybe the PrtSc key actually works, but you do not get the content of the clipboard into the program you are using. Certain programs have problems importing the clipboard. E.g., in Windows XP, my old version of Paint Shop Pro does not import screenshots made via pressing PrtSc (too many colours, I guess) - I have to use MS Paint or a newer version of Paint Shop Pro inbetween to get the screenshot, then I can transfer it into the other program.

In worst case, you might have to run FRUA in DosBox or find a freeware screenshot programm that might help you, there are several around...

Exactly. I can take a screenshot of my desktop and post it in paint but when I try it in UA there's no paste option in paint.

Yea I'll have to see if I can remember how to use DOSBox. It was a pain before and I was just hoping I was missing a stupidly simple way of doing it. Never mind. Cheers Dinonykos.

Where does PrtSc save the image?
Or is it just copied to clipboard?

With just pressing PrtSc, it is pasted to the clipboard. I read that in Win 8, you have the option to save the screenshot on your disc be using the windows key + PrtSc.

If you're not running DOSBox, how are you running FRUA?  If you're running it in straight DOS somehow, I don't know if it had a "print screen" option.
