Quick combat: Turn on spell casting
« on: May 07, 2011, 07:34:54 PM »
Hi,

I have searched all over the web and I can not find the Data Card. I need it to see how you turn on spell casting in quick combat?

Anyone know the command? I run it through dosbox/boxer (osx)

BTW, should this not be spelled with "with" and not "is"? That is the subtitle of this channel (Troubleshooting).

Thanks!

Nice catch.  Apparently, I forgot how to spell that day.  I'll fix it immediately.

Though, as a Gold Box newbie, you deserve fair warning: there's a reason NPCs in the later games tended to be fighters. I think it's the memory of the notorious Akabar Bel Akas from Curse of the Azure Bonds, who would cast spells at the least convenient times.

The real problem is that the utilization of magic-user spells is too complex for the 1988 AI to handle correctly.

Akabar was less than useless in combat, but him insulting the Drow patrols in Hap surely made the final showdown in the barn easier. That is one hell of a difficult battle for a lvl 5-6 party, if the Drow in Hap are in full force.

BTW, is there a command to set the whole party on quick combat?
EDIT: nevermind, found out it was ALT-Q.
