Please note, for anyone that has grabbed my images, that I've now replaced all the graphics with versions that maintain the palette order.

You will just need to convert from GIF to PCX to use. :D

@nologgie:

I'd put the dwarf-tavern pic into my game for sure, if there only was a dwarf-tavern.

Since I was limited to the standard UA art when I originally created "The Sect", and the vanilla art didn't include much dwarf pics, the dwarves were sadly relegated to a very minor role in the game.
But then again, even the gnolls got their own village, despite there being only one gnoll pic. ;)

But this pic is so good that it makes me wonder if maybe I should introduce a dwarf tavern somewhere... ;)
If I only had a free bigpic slot...

I love writing the tavern stories. Certainly one of my favorite things while creating a game.

Today, I would like to add a non-humanoid. :) This red dragon is by me.

That red dragon looks wicked!

This thread keeps getting better.  :)

Manikus, great pix! What rendering software are you using?

glad you guys like the dragon. :) I was worried that it was a little dark...part of which is the black background, part is my lighting scheme.

@nologgie: I used DAZ|Studio to render this image. Studio is a free version of Poser. If you're interested in finding out more, just let me know and I'll be happy to point you in the right direction. :D

Thanks Manikus! I found DAZ, now to see if I can do anything with it.

And some more pics - The merchant Ibn Al Qar of the Tunfaire Bazaar, 2 views. Also some minions of the law - the day watch and the night watch.

Some days it just doesn't pay to gnaw through the straps.

If I ever do the mod that includes all of the fantasy creatures that I invented over the years (like Gramlocks, Smuskis, Huschkis, Ukoras, Kastenköpfe, Erbärmlinge, Zahnzwerge etc.), this program could come in handy for creating their pics.

@nologgie:

These are incredibly useful pics!

That merchant could also double as a temple priest / sage.

Today I have another of those fancy bigpics for you.

This one shows a palace that ultimately was too beautiful to be inhabited by Orks.

Gorgeous pic! It's too beautiful to be inhabited by humans either.  ;)

This is a great thread! I might participate once I get back home this week.

As far as I know noone ever did an Al-Qadim mod for UA (let alone a worldhack); it's an idea for (my?) future projects. AlQuar01 & @Palace might come in handy then. :)

@Ben J: You're the one who invented Kastenköpfe and Erbärmlinge? I always thought they were part of German mythology...   ;) :D

The thing about DAZ and Poser is that they can cost you a lot of money if you buy the company line. ;) But, if you start looking, there are literally thousands of freebies available for use.

Check out this thread to get you started with some human figures.

Nice graphics! :) The first two look as if they could go with Ben's palace pic. I also like the night watch. There are lots of pictures of soldiers, but few of a city watch theme.

Thanks for the links! I'm WAY too cheap to buy the company line of anything I can get for free. (Insert SOURCEFORGE ad here).

I used the Amiga Sculpt programs for years, and alway made my own figure sets. Sculpt was based on triangles, though, and was very easy to design with. All the PC engines I've checked out use slices, which are easier to modify, but much more time consuming to design. It looks neat so far, but I have to run it on my laptop because my old desktop doesn't meet the specs.

@Ben: That is a nice palace. As Olivier mentioned, if I ever do an Al-Qadim mod, I will use this. :)

@Olivier: The more the merrier!

@Nologgie: With all the freebies available, there is no reason you would need to spend any money on this. :) Plus, if you want to do some 3D modelling of your own to supplement what is already available, there are some pretty darn good tools available (need I mention that they are free?) :D

I'd love to play an Al-Qadim Mod!

I thought that the
original SSI game adaptation
was a little weird, but I love the setting nevertheless.

Here's two more pictures that would fit right in with the theme:

They all stole from me.

See, here's the original early-90's Kastenkopf (pic 1) and the blatant rip-off (pic 2). :D  ;)
