What I notice first is:

NWN-O (left image) uses 16 colors

GBE (right image) uses 164 colors

So we might be talking EGA vs VGA, here.
I don't see how, they're both from the same game files. The exact same game files. Unless GBE got confused and thought it was converting VGA.

I imagine a file called "DKK Complete Edition" (for example) with all the music, fonts, frames, big pics, small pics, sprites, combat icons, walls, dungcoms, and wildcoms in a single download ready to be plugged into Unlimited Adventures.

That's a fantastic idea.

To give you a sense of how feasible this is, the following took me about 5 minutes to do:

1) Open CPIC1.DAX in Gold Box Explorer
2) Screen Cap the results
3) Reduce the color depth to 16 colors (because DKK is an EGA game)
4) Gold Box Explorer uses "Dark Grey" for palette #254 and "Black" for palette #255. While this may be technically correct within the DAX file itself, it is not how the icons are displayed during the game.
5) FRUA-ites are used to using a default palette where "Black" is palette #254 and "Some God-Awful Shade of Green" is palette #255. A global replacement of the RGB values for these two palette slots is in order.

The results are here for your amusement. The original GBE images are 16 million colors, though only 16 are actually used. The FRUA images are ready for placement on a DRAWCPIC.PCX template. In other words, they are suitable for framing.  :P

I converted everything from NWN-O except wallsets using GBE. But I used the 8 x 8 walls to get rid of backgrounds/backdrops from the walls. I had to change the palette to get dungeons and combat icons to work. No wilderness in NWN-O.

BTW, you can get 37 wallsets from NWN-O using the editor. Some of these wallsets have 15 walls. I'm using 26 wallsets in NWN-O though not all are complete. They eat up too much memory in FRUA.  ::)

I hope to convert all 37 wallsets one day. Which means the 11 I haven't yet. I also have images from all of the walls from Buck Rogers: Countdown to Doomsday to finish converting. Those are fairly easy to do.  :angel:

Is all the music available anywhere...?   

I used a tune from DKK in my EGA mod, but (without playing it again to remind myself) were there more than the one tune...?

This is fascinating. You are saying that Gold Box Explorer shows the Lord Nasher Pic in the Original Neverwinter Nights using more than 16 colors?

I know that most of the GoldBox games used EGA (16 colors) while some of the later ones used VGA (256 colors). I always assumed that NWN-O only existed as a 16 color game.

Would you mind taking a look at the Small Pic of Elastul in the version of NWN-O that you are using to determine if the image uses 16 colors or 256 colors?

Here is how he looks in a EGA game (NWN-Offline) vs. a VGA game (Treasures of the Savage Frontier).

I also just found out that the Cohub gallery has been updated for the first time in years!  :o
ALl of it from Vix except wallssf2.zip by Merle.

Back to topic:
The thing with the collections being scattered is likely the size limitations of the files. When I started you could only upload 2 MB and now it is 7 MB. Don't know what size it started out at. You couldn't combine them until recently. If I were collecting all the art I would put it into a module as a worldhack. Then it would be all set up for use.

They don't appear the same to me. The one on the left uses 838 colors, the one on the right uses 16 colors. The exact opposite of what happened with your Lord Nasher Pic. Maybe its your graphics program that is adding in all those extra colors.

gah my entire lengthy reply was just eaten so here goes more of a response ben:

didnt mean to be flip earlier its just that some of us maybe most of us who have dug around for art have been doing so for years.  it can be time consuming but rewarding and i just wish it was as easy as 'pointing you to it'.

here is the process i use:  because you know the style you are looking for, it makes this easier.  goldbox series came out in a specific era of gaming, so start there.  some of this was when ega was going vga, and some titles offer both, though the vga quality of these is questionable.  the vga only titles were far more interesting artwise, in my own opinion.  so:  look for titles from the same era, late 80's early 90's.  the bards tale and might and magic series arent too goldboxy, but stronghold and the summoning have some good things.  also, ports to other platforms like amiga and gameboy advance can contain better graphics and art resources that dont appear in the pc version.  this is true for eob series and pool of radiance off the top of my head.  don't discount looking through shareware or modded or homemade games either.  ive found quite a bit to work with over the years among those strange and wonderful unique games.  also, modding communities can usually offer new or refurbished ('updated' games!) art and often in very large amounts.  if you really are gung-ho about it, i would also suggest taking the time and effort to teach yourself the basics of graphics format ripping, so you can explore things for yourself as well.  its not really all that difficult and there are some excellent programs developed just for viewing/capturing/reformatting.  another suggestion would be to look at games that come moddable, such as the myriad roguelikes like nethack or dwarf fortress, and browse all the glorious fanmade art available for them.  try searching for different format/genre game art, like that from sega genesis (a very appropriate-era art style platform) or supernintendo.  search for sprites on google and browse the images, or visit the numerous modding/fan/shrine sites that offer galleries of downloadable/saveable sprite sheets.  many of these game include intro art or animations or any number of different things besides player/creature spriting.  finally, another great place to look for a lot of art in one place would be for dungeons and dragons tabletop gaming.  lots of icons can be found in central places for adding/printing to paper stock in lieu of using figure minis (some would call this a sacrilege i know but it exists :D ) and browse through those.  the great thing about going this route is much of the work has been done for you as far as isolating specific pieces and then labelling it clearly in d&d terms as to what it is, ie: a harpy being a harpy.  if you don't already have one, a good solid art viewer/manipulator is your best friend.  i don't see the need to spend cash for this, as there are so many quality programs out there made by someone so why not use one?  i use irfanview myself, as it allows collating of art and then i can change color depth and pixel size by the batchful.

okay sorry bout all that just didnt want to be glib but also didnt want you to think there isnt a way to do this.  like everything, it just takes some time.  on the negative side, there is probably some art out there that someone wants to keep to themselves, but on the positive you can give yourself the tools to dig up what you are looking for too.  i know you have little time these days but i hope this helps some.  i can provide specific links to some of what i suggested above and i can do so privately if you would prefer.
