OAUA Overture
« on: January 27, 2011, 10:06:35 PM »
The default OAUA Overture tune, which Darius employs often in his Tale of Twin Dragons mods, is the theme song to the Once Upon a Time in China series and was adapted from a Ming Dynasty folk song "Under the General's Orders"; the version used for the films was written by Wong Jim and its title is translated as "A Man of Determination," here from the first film:

An alternate translation, which I prefer is "A Man Should Better Himself."

Here's the opening of the second in the series (which many argue to be Jet Li's finest film, Hero notwithstanding) with the lyrics subtitled:

I had the good fortune of seeing this one in the cinemas, and it was awesome.   :D

This is a naughty send-up version from a more satirical take on that famous hero Wong Fei Hung (again played by Jet Li, but not part of the OUTIC series), Last Hero in Chinahttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KrSF5HYSj7k  The translation is provided in one of the viewer's comments.  Hmm...try not to think of this version when you play Darius' mods.

Very funny, hans!!   ;D

Seriously though, I appreciate your research.  I was watching the videos in your first post, and it was very interesting to see the translation of the mandarin in the second link -- it fit right in with the plot of TD2: Flight of Fury which was neat to see.

Thanks for sharing!   :)
