Great idea! Now, time to review chemistry... well, I unfortunately cannot remember enough, but one way to find the statue's weight might be:
Assumption: human mass/volume is approximately the same as water.
Then: the statue depicts a somewhat average-weighted female, so perhaps 50 kg or so (if I remember correctly, the statue was around actual human size).
If like water, that would be about 50 L volume.
The Internet says that gold weights 19.32 kg/L, so that might give us: 19.32 x 50 = 966 kg, so yeah, about 1000 kg sounds right to me!
