PREVIEW: The Third Stain

"The Third Stain" will be the second adventure of Sherlas of Hemlock. I am not yet sure if it will be a prequel or sequel to "The Case of the Stolen Masterpiece", but in any case it will a little more complex than the first Hemlock Adventure.

Again, the art will be a combination of Uatu's and mine. I have added a few 3D-view examples below.

Yes! Uatu made a nice wall which would work as long as the lake/sea or whatever is not too complicated. I transferred that one into the "water floor walls" I posted in the art-request-for-Dinonykos thread. I did also modify several other walls done by Uatu and myself so that they now fit quite well together. In terms of art, the next thing I will do is modifying the frame art from "Case of the stolen Masterpiece".

As usual, looks fantastic!  I don't quite understand how the water walls you created work (despite seeing them), but they work quite well somehow!  Great how you can show an island/peninsula somehow.  I also like your idea of putting a boulder in the water - I might be able to manage that much at least!

Tree walls looks wonderful as usual, and mesh well with my own foliage.

The people walls also work quite well - I was thinking of doing some "statue walls," but I was thinking that four sides is too much to draw...

Statues are complex, indeed (like characters which do not turn to the player)...

Below, I have added a screenshot showing the new frame art. So far, I made only a few modfications to "The case of the stolen Masterpiece".
I have altered several other walls of mine to fit with your art, Uatu, and also made some modifications to some of yours. I think we already have quite a variety now...

Thank you both! Well, this frame is based on one of Uatu's. I admit Steve's approach to use the central vertical bar for additional graphical elements is perhaps more elegant than mine (using the frame around the 3D window), but I am to lazy to recalculate everything...

Uatu, if you have ideas how we could modify the frameset, I am open for anything. I would, for example, like to replace the blue gem in the lower left with something else.

I like the brick wall very much!

Nice green frame (I only made one frame so far!) - if replacing the big blue gem, some things that might look nice:
- A little critter (such as a lounging dragon)
- Maybe just a dragon head or gargoyle head or the like
- Foliage of some kind (vines, etc.)
- Crystal ball?

But I don't understand modifying the frame as well as you guys!

I already experimented a little with the frame...

I also modified several of Uatu's wall a little (e.g. by "correcting" slots D, C, M, and L) and made new floors to fit with Uatu's walls (like the one in the screenshot).

Uatu, do you think you could modify the statue that can be "put" into the alcove shown in the screenshot to look golden? I tried it myself, but since both the statue and the wall are using identical colours, I am not sure where the statue starts and the alcove ends...

Sure thing, here you go!  (I luckily had some of the sculptures solo, so it was easier for me to gild them than it would have been for you!)  Good idea, though, it makes the sculpture stand out more!

Great! Thank you for the golden statue! My idea was that this statue has been stolen from a temple and Sherlas and Conanson have to find the culprit. With this wall, the statue could be re-positioned if the heroes manage to retrieve it.

I am just wondering what such a statue would weigh if it was pure gold - around 1000 kg perhaps?

Great idea!  Now, time to review chemistry...  well, I unfortunately cannot remember enough, but one way to find the statue's weight might be:

Assumption: human mass/volume is approximately the same as water.
Then: the statue depicts a somewhat average-weighted female, so perhaps 50 kg or so (if I remember correctly, the statue was around actual human size).
If like water, that would be about 50 L volume.
The Internet says that gold weights 19.32 kg/L, so that might give us: 19.32 x 50 = 966 kg, so yeah, about 1000 kg sounds right to me!
