XML in Windows 8 Only Showing Some Artwork

I wasn't sure where to put this, but since it involves images from FRUA, and also DC, why not here.

When I started putting the reviews and previews into the missing UANLs, some images would show up and some wouldn't. For instance the prev05.jpeg. I don't remember if jpgs are loadable by xml. I know pngs and bmps are. I know tgas aren't. Not sure about gifs. I tried loading the prev05 as jpg or jpeg, and even renamed it b9a1 since prev might be an xml command. Neither would show up. So I opened it with Paint and resaved it as a png. This also wouldn't show up.

I thought it might be Windows 8 pngs are different than my previous windows, so I copied the at1.png from UANL49. It was 17.3 kb. At1 showed up all right. I put it in Paint and converted it back to png. The size went up to 36.4 kb but it still showed up.

So I copied various other art from previous UANLs for reviews of Game Designs previously reviewed. The last two images wouldn't show up in xml, but 5 others would.

Anybody have any ideas what might be causing this?

What are you using to code XML?  Also, how are you attempting to show the images?

I'm using Notepad to write the code. For the images I used the two that were on hand, the UANL main image and the Review image, as well as the art variant:

I notice that your image source in the middle doesn't have quotations around the name of the image file.

Have you double-checked the upper case/lower case ".JPG" vs. ".jpg", whether it is an "O" or a "0", if the actual file extension is ".jpeg" or ".jpg", and made sure the file names don't have any spaces?

It kind of sounds like you have, but XML is case-sensitive.

Sorry, I replied but forgot to send it and timed out.

I believe I replied that I tried it both ways multiple times but that it didn't seem to matter. That the middle one was used in reviews so that the image right-aligned. So I normally use the other ones for central or left-aligning.

Nol, tried it four different ways, including renaming the image in all CAPs. Didn't show up. The same image will show up in xml from earlier UANLs. All the images show up.

Can something other than Notepad be used to edit the xml?

If notepad is causing the problem wouldn't a more modern version cause even more problems?

Strangely enough, it may be the temp files. Images appear and disappear in xml from new pictures. But they show up when I download the file. Like Rosedragon which wouldn't show me the new uanls even though they were up, deleting the temp files might solve my problem. Rosedragon suddenly appeared when my computer did its monthly delete temp files.

I missed this reply somehow.  Notepad++ isn't really related to Microsoft's Notepad.  I think they just named it that; because they want people to replace Notepad with it.  As I said, it was recommended in one of my college classes for coding in HTML, XML and a lot of programming languages.

I think the problem is my computer. When you load an xml page to view it, the page joins your internet pages instead of opening a new window. Since my internet pages aren't refreshing even when files have changed, the same problem probably applies to the xmls. The art I can't see on my computer I can see online from RoseDragon.

I just downloaded uanl50, unzipped it and looked at it. All of the artwork is showing up. Most of it wasn't showing up previously.

If I zip all the files up and unzip them in a new directory all the art work shows up. The first time. So I have found a work-around.
