It's not really too complicated.  I probably didn't explain it well.  Here are the steps (which will sound complicated, but really aren't as bad as they seem):

* Purchase iDOS2
* Write email to author requesting to be put on the iDOS2 Beta
* Receive iDOS2 Beta key
* Install "TestFlight" from the app store
* Place code for iDOS2 Beta into TestFlight and install
* Install "iFunBox" on the PC that has the DOS games
* Using "iFunBox" from the computer, alter the configuration file in iDOS2 to not autoboot to their built in menu (which leads to four freeware games).  I usually let mine just drop me to the DOS command line
* Using "iFunBox," move over all your DOS stuff from the PC to the iPad
* Start playing DOS games on iPad/iPhone
* Every 90 days get an update to iDOS on TestFlight before previous version expires (test versions can only be run for 90 days, but the author is good about updating within that timeframe so that you can just install a minor update to keep it going).

All this would be really easy if Apple wouldn't try to make themselves content police.  I don't play anything on iDOS2 (or DOSBox) that I don't legally own, so personally it annoys me that they automatically assume that I'm doing something illegal. 

The only other option is if you jailbreak your iPad.  Or, if you have either an Android or a Windows tablet.

Don't know if anyone has seen the program "Portrait Wizard" that's available on Steam.  It allows you to create portraits that can then be used for whatever purposes you want (even commercial uses).  I have it.  Even though it creates the portraits in a similar style, there is a lot of variation.  Using something like Photoshop, you could probably come up with even more variations and ideas.

Here are four examples I created that you can feel free to use in DC.  If anyone wants, I could create more.

I have iDOS2, but in order to actually put DOS programs onto it, you have to use some sketchy programs like "iFunPad" that are dubious in nature and always come up as threats and viruses on my virus scanner, since Apple won't allow you to do it natively through iTunes.  Once you purchase the program, you have to contact the author so he can put you on his list to get a special version of iDOS2 that runs through the TestFlight program (where people test unreleased versions of apps).  Using a virtual machine might be the best option to move your DOS stuff over.

I don't actually have any DOS stuff installed at the moment.  I do know if you run iDOS2 in portrait mode, you have access to full PC keyboard, so running something like FRUA (or even making designs for it) would be possible.

I've been meaning to mess around with it (since I have purchased a new laptop that will be delivered this Tuesday anyway, and I'll have to wipe my hard drive in the process).  I'll let you know how it works out.

I was wondering whether anyone has made an attempt to see if FRUA, and FRUA designs, can be played on an iPad or iPhone or other mobile device? I see that there is an app called “iDos 2” in the Apple App Store but there doesn’t seem to be much info available about how to use it to play a game like FRUA. FRUA strikes me as a game that could be played quite effectively on an iPad since it can be played mostly just by pressing buttons on the screen.

A monster determines the number of steps required to enter
each cell of the battlefield.  If necessary, he will take a

Does the pathfinding use straight lines only, or would a monster who is trying to move east select one of the following directions (in order):

East
If East is blocked then NE or SE
If East, NE, and SE blocked then North or South
If E, NE, SE, N, and S blocked, then NW or SW
If all other directions except West are blocked, then West
If all 8 directions are blocked, then Guard and end turn

I'd rather have a monster jump back and forth between two locations until they are out of moves before they give up and guard.

Okay, did some testing. Friendly NPCs and monsters do attack the enemy - following the same AI as the enemy. However, the pathfinding is causing them not to go around a friendly that lies in their path towards what the AI determines is the best target.
