Remove "Current Game Design:" text?
« on: March 07, 2017, 10:03:16 PM »
Does anyone know how to remove (or change the location, or content, of) the text on the FRUA main menu screen that reads "Current Game Design: XXXX.DSN"? I have looked several times but have not been able to find this documented in ckitform.txt, uagivens.txt or my own notes. Ideally, I would like the name of the design to display (as it does below already) but without this additional text.

The text string "Current Game Design:" is located at offset 582694 (dec) in the ckit.exe file. You should be able to replace that text with all spaces.

In order to delete the "design.dsn" text or move it off screen, I would look for a pointer to the above text string, somewhere near the character creation menu text string pointers. Sorry I can't be more help right now, but I'm in the middle of a one-week challenge.

Thanks Nol, that is a helpful start at least. I don't know why I didn't pick that up myself in UGE.

I have removed the text "Current Game Design" but of course the "XXXX.DSN" text is still sitting there, now looking kind of weirdly off-centre. So I think what I need to find is the pointer for that XXX.DSN input, rather than the pointer for the "Current Game Design" text string (unless the former is somehow determined by the latter).

Don't worry, this can certainly wait more than a week. I'm looking forward to seeing all the output from this challenge.
