Hopefully anyone who uses the links and converts them to FRUA will put the files online to prevent duplication of effort. I saw someone here was working on Eye of the Beholder 2 a few years back, but haven't seen any of the sprites anywhere.

If anyone is interested in them, I'll load the monster small pics from Bard's Tale 2 Amiga version, and pics/ sprites from Ishar 1, when I beat them.

Does anyone know if there are any walls or backdrops for mines in Frua yet? I'm thinking about a backdrop showing rail tracks, and walls with things like minecarts, mineral veins or gems in them.

It looks like a few people might have checked out the paper mini's link. At present I can't go back and look since his bandwith is exceeded. If it's for the month, I'lll have to look again when May arrives in a couple of days.

Edit - fixed the links

Awesomeness.

One of the things that came up when I was browsing for art was a game series called Dominions, now up to #4. It looks like a strategy game with hundreds, if not thousands of units, each with what looks like 2 frames of animations, tons of mods for it and looking like it would be perfect for combat icons.

Doing an image search on Yahoo or Google brings up plenty of other pics.

It looks like there's a demo for #3 out, but screen caps alone look like they would be useful.

Definitely something to look into.

There's a collection of Eye of the Beholder II artwork available on Rosedragon.  It includes 4 sprites:

Prophet,

Thanks. I saw someone had some screen shots up a few years back of the corridor filling frost giant and red dragon. I was hoping there was a complete set of sprites out there ready for use.

I think my Dominion links might have been bad above - corrected and checked.

I know this is not exactly what you're looking for, but a while back I uploaded a complete set of sprites from Dungeon Hack. It has many of the same sprites from the EOB series, including a corridor filling Blue Dragon, but not the Red Dragon or Frost Giant.

Thanks Nol,

I'm slowly going thru the files with the help of the art site and seeing what's already been done before adding new content. There's already so much good original art done, as well as imports, and it's taking a bit to go thru it all.

I think in the end there's going to nice art for just about everything you could think of.

Quick questions for those reading the thread. When you're building/ playing an adventure, in general, when you have an encounter do you prefer seeing a sprite approaching or a small pic?

For combat art, in general, a straight side view of the creature or an angled or isometic view?

New month so the Pawn site linked above is able to be accessed again.

For Dominions 4, here's a link to a sorted zip with every sprite in the game. Each unit has 2 poses and faces to the left in default. This will take a while to go thru.

Oh, and this....this is a mod for D4 that puts in a Sahuagin nation - more awesomeness.

And.....(sorry) one more. This site has screen caps for lots of mods for D3.

I don't have the links available, but going through a Doom mod site I was able to find zips of the sprites for SSI's Eye of the Beholder 1-3 and Death Keep, as well as the Elder Scrolls' Arena and Daggerfall, plus Lands of Lore 1 and Dungeon Master 2 as well.

Anyone interested in them let me know and I'll email them over.

I'm still playing through Bard's Tale 2 for the Amiga - about a third of the way through and only an occasional new pic. These are higher than EGA I think, either 32 color or 64. I've resized them to small pic size and just have to change them to pcx and run them through the converter for FRUA

I've also gone thru the Dominions files and have grabbed and converted down about 30 monsters for Combat art. I'll have to learn how to work with the palettes to get them ready unless someone with more experience wants to have a go at them.

Those pics are great! I hope there are more where those came from.

For combat icons, cut and paste into the the file DRAWCPIC.PCX which looks something like the image below, and is located in the ART folder of your FRUA installation.

The first 64 colors of the palette should not be used because they can change during game play. We often make colors you should not use appear bright magenta. Color 0 is black and color 255 is used for transparency.

Milos, as you can see I saved the original files as jpgs, so I can include them no problem. Original pic size was 225 by 175. I dropped it down to small pic size and cut off some on the edges to make it fit for FRUA.

Nol, thanks. Not sure how much more is in BT2 - stuck in the bottom floor of a 5 level tower grinding to get levels to go higher. Haven't played it since the 80's on my C64, so memories are about gone. I'll transfer the players to BT3 afterwords and see what it has to offer.

On the combat icons - I know about the templates but I thought the FAQ said the colors were limited to 32 on them. It looks like you  have a bit more than that. At present I don't have an art editor loaded besides irfanview and paint, and I see that the combat icons have the problem where you have to match the palette to make it look right. I pulled out my old copy of Deluxe Paint Animate which I thought I remembered would work, but after reading through the huge manual, couldn't see a clear explanation on palette matching.

I'll probably wind up using Paint Show Plus fro this since it seems to be the common answer.

Original sizes are gone for the ones already done. I can keep the larger sizes for you for any new pics going forward.

Check the link for the BT1 pics on the first page - these might be of larger size.
