This is not dead, just sleeping I guess.
I guess about two years ago now, I was working on this project and had computer diffculties. All the databases became corrupted (actually everything on my external ddrive became corrupted and I lost over half a TB). My backups were more than a week out of date, which meant I lost a significant amount. I think I got most of it back.
Fast forward four or five months, and I'm working on this again, laptop dies a horrible death and also takes out the attached flash drive which I was using as my backup. Disheartening, but my second backup was only a week or so old, and so the proect did not die.
I am doing the databases for this project. At some point, Uatu and I had talked about it and he was going to try and do icons for the monsters and maybe some for the many specialty priests. But for the rest of the art, well just about every image from every 2e book (as well as 1e, 3e, 4e and 5e) are easy to find online. So we have no plans for smallpics or bigpics. Walls and backdrops for the setting are not so specific that other walls and backdrops cannot be used, so we had no plans for doing those either. With that being said, we (and I probably mean mostly me) will try and do some setting specific images, like holy symbols, as small pics and wall overlays for use at temples, etc. Maps might be something I can do as well, as I am particular fond of maps.
One of the main reasons I wasn't planning on doing any art other than icons is that I can't possibly know what resolution and layout designers want to use - I've posted 7 in the forums - and since it is so easy to get the pictures you want... I will, however, be happy to help people convert art for use in their design, maybe even doing some overlays for walls, etc.
These are huge. There are literally hundreds of classes to choose from. Counting the subraces a player can choose from, about 20 races. I have all of the items from default DC, numbers tweaked for 2e (in all of the databases, actually), plus a number of new items, likes whips and some specialty armor and a whole bunch of pole arms. The biggest task has been the spells. More spells for clerics, druids, mages and bards. Plus I have done spells by school and sphere. Every specialist mage has access to only the schools they should, but also to bonus spells from their school.
I would load what I have done right now except for one thing. While my databases were up-to-date for right up until we released version 1.0, we've added new keywords in the spells database and I have to update every spell.
Right now, I'm spending my time working on Hero Craft, the Pool of Radiance conversion and most importantly am continuing to work on development with Paul. I will look at doing something with this before too long.
