manikus alterus
« on: December 13, 2016, 01:10:12 PM »
I am a huge fan of many of the artists who have done work for use in Dungeon Craft. From time to time, I find myself needing an image in their style to go with a project I am working on. Sometimes, I just want to do some art based on their art, by which I mean recolors or copying together two or more bits, etc. :)

This thread is for the artwork I have done based on other people's works. I will add my work in various posts in this thread and put links to the post in this post for ease of use.

Abbot Henderson:
3 devil icons

Dinonykos:
curtain walls
dark grey wallset

Uatu:
human female portraits
drow male portraits
drow female portraits
underwater icons
extraplanar icons
guard portraits and icons

Ziroc:
doors
window

Shall I show you what I mean? :D

First up are some walls based on those by Dinonykos - specifically his awesome "curtain" wall. I thought from the get-go that it would be cool to have it in other colors, so, I did that. :D

Included in the zip file attached below are the six wall variations and thumbnail versions for ease of use in your wall editor.

Cool. But does that mean you also work on a design with "black-outlined art"?

Remember my "Hovos" (previously known as "Prohovost")? :D

Is there a version of the curtain wall that is not black-outlined? If so, I do not blieve that I have that.

I don't think so - it can be easily done if I have the original ("unsofted") file. I will check that.

Yes, I remember Hovos. I think what still confuses me about that one is that you, if I remember correctly, used black-outlined walls with Uatu's sprites. As you now, I already changed a lot of my walls to fit with Uatu's art (for "The Case of the Stolen Masterpiece"), and I think I will do more "Uatu-compatible" walls - so maybe it would make sense to use those modified walls? Would look much more consistent.

I would love to have a non-outlined version of the curtain wall. :)

Back when I was starting the Hovos project, I didn't have many options, so I took what I could get. And to be honest, I was very happy with iit. :) And then through discussions between us folk, I started making my own unlined versions, but I don't think I got too far.
Every once in a while, usually after a big update, I update the Hovos design. The last couple of times, I have thought about replacing all of the old war art with the new _Uatu-compatible" versions. I do have a bunnch of walls that are actually part of teh reason I started this thread, that I will need to start over on using a non-outlined version or make non-outlined.

These doors are teh very first thing that I modified for use in DC. :D Ziroc made a great door that I still quite like. Not shown in the preview are the interior version of the doors with colored windows.

The zip contains thumbnail walls for ease of use in the wall editor.

The  next thing I altered in DC was the wall with window, also by ziroc,  so it was an overlay to be used with other walls.

These look nice. Thank you for sharing.

I always like variety and choices on the artwork, and I also dig the "Harry Potter"-ish name on the post

Here are a couple of reworked portraits from Uatu - a couple of human females.

I love Uatu's portraits and small pics. I just need more dark elves. :D Here are a couple of drow males.

What you really find yourself needing, if you're me, are more drow females. :D Here is what I have done.

It's not just portraits by Uatu that I love, it's his icons, too. Here are the ones that I have reworked to go with the underwater database set. :)
